A society functioning 24/7 will generate more activities like round-the-clock shopping, entertainment, support services and transportation among many others. Such activities will give rise to reduced break-ins and other crimes as there would be more "eyes on the street" at all times. The Police Force has actually observed that the level of criminal activities is significantly reduced during the period of Maha Shivaratree and other festivals.

A number of workshops and seminars are scheduled in the forthcoming months to enlist the support of Law and Enforcement authorities and policy-makers in implementing the various measures identified by the “sub-committee on security issues”. In addition, existing legislation might need review and new laws can be established. Harsher penalties for crime/theft prevention, more street lighting, lit bus shelters with affixed bus time tables, extension of the CCTV to other towns and villages, increased police patrols at night, neighbourhood watch initiatives, self-defence classes and educating the population on safety measures are important aspects that warrant consideration.
